Case Study – Concerning Odors

Project Brief.

The Challenge

Identify the source of the odor and if it was from the client. If so, how to eliminate or reduce the odor.

The Solution

The solution was to two-fold. The study indicated that the odors typically occurred late in the evenings or early in the mornings during the winter and fall months and especially during periods of thermal inversion. Potential areas at the manufacturing site which could possibly emit odors, were visited and work practices examined.

The Results

The overall result was that the practice of opening up the doors in the pre-processing areas during working shifts would not be allowed unless the air extraction system was functioning especially during periods of thermal inversion. Local authorities and community were satisfied with the findings and the corrective actions.
